POSITION OVERVIEW Post-doctoral associates are academic employees who conduct research, teach, or provide service that enhances career skills or allows for opportunities to learn new research or teaching techniques. They may also supervise staff. They are trained by and work with a faculty mentor who, along with the Post-doctoral associate, determines the training agenda. As scholars in advanced training status, it is highly recommended that Post-doctoral associates devote five percent of their effort to propose professional and career development opportunities outside the scope of their assigned research and teaching responsibilities. These opportunities may be within or outside their department as permitted by the funding source supporting salary. The nature and content of professional and career development opportunities are at the discretion of the Post-doc Associate. This position requires expertise in both bench science experiments, including cell culture methods, PCR, and other molecular biology techniques, and computational experiments, including bioinformatics, data processing from large sets of data produced by single-cell transcriptomics, sequencing, and high-throughput analyses. In addition, the candidate will be required to work on small animal models of periodontal disease. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Qualifications
