We're looking for a Sustainability Intern to support Salesforce's carbon footprinting and decarbonization strategies across the organization, helping the company achieve the ambitious 1.5C-aligned goal of 50% emissions reduction by 2030. This position will report to the Senior Director of Emissions Reduction and work closely with the entire Impact team and cross-functional business partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Reporting

    • Contribute to the annual greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting (measuring scope 1,2,& 3 emissions)and reporting process

    • Support maintenance and use of Salesforce's Net Zero Cloud instance

    • Contribute to process improvements related to data collection, forecasting, and decarbonization

    • Review and work with key stakeholders to update our GHG Inventory Management Plan

    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks and reporting standards

  • Data analysis and modeling

    • Conduct spreadsheet-based calculations and modeling on datasets related to energy, real estate, travel, and other sustainability-focused areas.

    • Assist in data validation, trend analysis, and insights generation to support sustainability initiatives.

  • AI Agent Testing & Development

    • Develop and maintain an AI agent testing & feedback framework to ensure accuracy, usability, and continuous improvement.

    • Perform validation and testing of AI sustainability agents developed by the team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program with a focus on Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or related field

  • Demonstrated passion for and knowledge of corporate ESG issues

  • Experience with Greenhouse Gas quantification and accounting utilizing the Greenhouse Gas Protocol across scopes 1, 2, and 3

  • Experience with quantitative analysis, including exposure to larger unstructured data sets

  • Interest and some familiarity in using AI tools

  • Experience with emissions forecasting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience maintaining complex data models and data management systems

  • Tech savvy and comfortable working with and using new software tools

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Project management experience

  • Keen attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $50 to $50. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $55 to $55.
