Electrical Superintendent I - Solar

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent I to provide coordination, planning, and supervision to Assistant Electrical Superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific area of discipline. Positive attitude and behavior are necessary as you will interact with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, dedication, and efficiency with a high level of integrity and confidentiality will be critical for success.

Looking specifically for Northern Florida projects and Southern California Superintendents.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Coordinate work projects within the electrical scope, ensuring high-quality installation of electrical portions, including underground cabling, overhead lines, and substation construction


  • Supervise the installation of the collection system and manage the connection of the power grid to the existing distribution system


  • Provide drawing, constructability, submittal reviews, and feedback with the engineering team, verifying quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship


  • Partner with the Sr. Superintendent in formwork selection, equipment sizing, site utilization plan, and development of project schedules and updates, including three-week look-ahead


  • Ensure work teams have necessary resources and support, and supervise quality control of work team, including self-performed and subcontracted work


  • Monitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for safety concerns, ensuring implementation, practice, and enforcement of the company's Zero Injury Program


  • Participate in project meetings, providing liaison between field engineers and contractors or craft workers to ensure electrical components comply with drawings and specifications


  • Oversee documentation, tracking, and analysis of all Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reports, and assist with major incident analysis


  • Coach, mentor, and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents, providing work direction, performance evaluations, and development opportunities


  • Maintain relationships with all visitors to the site, including customers, architects, union representatives, subcontractors, etc., and handle open shop and union issues

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience


  • Minimum 10 years' experience working with high and medium voltage equipment and cable, installation of collection lines and substation construction.


  • Minimum 13 years supervisory experience


  • Proficiency in the installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of high and medium voltage cables


  • Knowledgeable about current injection, Hi-pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble, and other methods of cable and equipment testing


  • Possess working knowledge of electrical drawings, sketches, and prints, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes and vaults for distribution and collection systems, underground and pad mount transformer usage, SCADA systems used in the power industry, transmission line construction, testing and commissioning, and substation construction, testing and commissioning


  • Current driver's license


  • 100% Travel

**The base pay range for this role is $122,600 - $183,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
