ABOUT THIS ROLE:

The Shipping Attendant position is a Weekend shift full-time opportunity. The work schedule is Friday - Monday 6am-4pm.

Shipping Attendants accurately and efficiently transport, handle, analyze, process, load, and release customer orders for shipment. Additional responsibilities include the safe operation of powered equipment, PC data input/access, document processing utilizing handheld RF terminals and order analysis problem solving. The position requires the incumbent to work overtime and/or adjust work schedule during peak volume, as well as work at other outside facilities or in other departments, as needed. Must be well versed on the CT-PAT and PIP security guidelines.

Teamwork, cooperation, and flexibility, along with LEAN principles of problem solving and elimination of waste are expectations of the position. Additionally, every employee is responsible for their personal safety, as well as the safety of their peers. Adherence of established safety policies and procedures, along with the reporting of all injuries and unsafe conditions are also requirements of this position. Business needs of the department may require additions or changes to the duties of this position.

Responsibilities include:



  • Combines freight orders by stacking cartons weighing up to 100 pounds on conveyors or pallets, ensuring correctness of Bills of Lading, labels, close-out sheets, and carton counts.
  • Analyzes, researches, and resolves problem orders, including product or carton shortages, as well as late or rush shipments.
  • Makes daily business decisions regarding proper cost-effective use of company resources, customer service requests, and order prioritization.
  • Utilizes PC terminal to access or input order information and research paperwork for tracking purposes. Checks emails daily and processes cartons through Ratelinx to be able to ship orders.
  • Prepares paperwork for proper shipment of orders, communicates with the office on trailer assignments - Open/Close out trailers. Monitors and adjusts inventory levels in the preselect area and sends unneeded stock back to the warehouse. Completes regular rack inspections for the high-rise racking units to make sure they can accommodate weight being placed in shelving locations
  • Proficiently and with extreme accuracy performs the appropriate steps in the dynamic and complex export process to prepare international orders for shipment to our Military and Foreign accounts.
  • Attention to detail and thorough communication with International/Transportation are essential as financial ramifications of errors can be significant. Files and maintains international paperwork required for Export orders. Critical CTPAT & PIP tasks are followed including a 7-point inspection on all incoming Canada trailers before cartons can be loaded.
  • Accurately estimates daily Canada trailer needs for Liberty, Liberty2, IDC, and Leavenworth facilities and determines if trailers from outside facilities will ship from their locations or be combined with Liberty trailers.
  • Unloads incoming Canada trailers from outside facilities onto conveyor system to be reloaded on existing trailers leaving from Liberty/Liberty2.
  • Operates lift truck while stocking, filling, transporting non-conveyable stock in the Preselect area, as well as hauls completed orders to/from the NCOP/freight areas. Tasks while operating lift trucks include skillfully loading and unloading pallet loads from the moving towveyor equipment, carefully placing/retrieving slabs or pallets of stock in and out of the 3-story high racking units, pushing filled stock off of slabs onto pallets, putting freight palletized shipments on shrink wrap machines and operating equipment to securely wrap loads, hauling pallets to staging area, loading pallets onto tight space restrictions of the parcel/freight trailers, operating high rise battery changing equipment, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
  • Additional responsibilities include Operating automated dock plates and trailer locking system required per safety regulations before loading or unloading trailers and exercising proper care in the position of cartons/pallets to avoid damage in transit and maximizing trailer utilization.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to constantly, stand, walk push/pull and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds constantly, up to 40 pounds frequently and lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license
  • Basic computer skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must have basic math skills, problem-solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Flexible - able to work in a variety of conditions with automated equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks.

Note: If out on a leave-of-absence for the 6-month requirements listed above, performance and attendance will be reviewed for the 6 months prior to going out on leave.

  • The Shipping Attendant opportunity is located at the Hallmark Liberty Distribution Center in Liberty, MO.
  • Will be required to work temporarily at other Hallmark locations
  • This role requires climbing steps or ladders and the use of catwalks over 20 feet from the floor
  • Relocation will not be provided.
