Job Summary: Maintain and repair a wide variety of over the snow equipment including but not limited to snow removal and heavy equipment, snow grooming machines, snowmobiles, lift APU's and generators. Oversee operations of the shop, prioritize daily tasks and assist other mechanics. Communicate with shop manager to meet expectation goals and maintain a safe working environment.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $36.39 - $47.31 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • Inspect, diagnose & repair vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, lubrication and adjustments according to manufacturer's guidelines on snow removal machines, heavy equipment, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
  • Repair, remove and/or replace necessary parts to keep vehicles in operation. This is done both in shop and out on hill.
  • Perform major overhauls on all types of gasoline and diesel engines, gear boxes, differentials, and transmissions.
  • Perform metal repairs/fabrication using all types of welding and cutting tools.
  • Communicate with department heads and employees regarding equipment problems and repairs.
  • Complete work orders on all vehicles.
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserves resources by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate equipment, parts and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Mend damaged body parts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area, follows OSHA safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with vehicle and equipment operator orientation and training.
  • Follow and adhere to all Hazmat compliance and Spill Prevention Control & Counter measurement Plan (SPCC)

  • Assists in all other shop duties as assigned. Responsible for all duties assigned by management.


Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7 years mechanical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical experience in Automotive, Truck, Bus, Heavy Equipment, or Fleet diagnostics and repair
  • Strong experience with diagnostic tools and computers
  • Able to diagnose and repair electrical and computer systems problems on modern vehicles.
  • Able to diagnose and repair major mechanical systems on modern vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of all typical shop equipment
  • Welding and fabrication background
  • Extensive air system and air brake knowledge
  • Extensive hydraulic system experience
  • Ability to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects tools or controls. Must be capable of frequent wrist, elbow and should twisting and pulling movements. Must be capable of walking or standing 70% or more of a normal 8-hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling 100 lbs or more, and frequently lifting, pushing or pulling, and carrying up to 40lbs. Must be capable of climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, walking on snow and ice, and operating snow vehicles. Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:
Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.
Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate. Hazardous materials include petroleum products, fuel and waste products.
