TITLE: Safety Coordinator

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, and overseeing all workplace safety programs and policies to ensure the company follows applicable regulatory standards specific to food-contact packaging manufacturing. This role ensures a safe working environment for all employees by proactively identifying risks, updating programs, training employees, and enforcing company policies. The Safety Coordinator will collaborate with department heads to integrate safety practices into daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Certification in safety-related programs (CSP, OSHA 30/OSHA 50 classes, etc.), including CPR and first aid.
  • Minimum of at least 5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food packaging.
  • Proven ability to conduct investigations, analyze data, and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and training skills to engage employees at all levels.
  • The ability to create safety and compliance policies and programs.
  • Experience in emergency response plans to ensure employee safety in the event of a disaster.


  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and documentation to meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments of the equipment, environment, and processes in working areas to achieve zero incidents.
  • Manage all necessary reporting related to workplace injuries and near-misses including compliance documentation, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Conduct safety inspections of the plant and equipment ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct regular safety training programs for all employees, ensuring compliance with food safety and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Raise the level of hazard awareness and lower the risk tolerance across the plant.
  • Conduct safety meetings and provide ongoing safety communication to all employees.
  • Collaborate with the production, maintenance, and quality teams to integrate safety best practices into daily operations.



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Must adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
  • Fast-paced production floor with exposure to machinery noise and variable temperatures.



TRAINING:



  • Must complete ongoing training as required.



PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • This position is a hands-on approach requiring extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
