The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be responsible for:
- Joining our Center for Excellence in Epilepsy and Neurology, with care focusing on children and families with epilepsy and neurological diagnosis at acute and intermediate levels of care. This is a 40 hour/week position on a 31 bed pediatric neuroscience unit, inclusive of a 12 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
- First line care of Epilepsy and Neurology patient population on the inpatient neuroscience unit, including assessment and medical history, physical exams, diagnosis, and family centered care of patients and their families.
- Consulting in an interdisciplinary manner on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds and managing assigned patients throughout the course of the day.
- Participating in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives, as well as facilitation of patient/family and multidisciplinary team education.
- Assisting with admissions, discharges, care coordination, monitoring and counseling of patients, including telephone consultation.
- Assisting with the transition to home, continuity of care across the continuum, and family support and education.
- Contributing to the knowledge base of the profession and specialty programs through publications, presentations, and participation in the work of professional organizations.
- Working 40 hours a week including a consistent schedule of 12-hour day shifts on weekends and some weekdays.
To qualify, you must have...
- Master's in Nursing and/or Masters in Physician Assistant Studies and Licensed PNP or FNP or PA.
- 3 years minimum acute pediatric RN/PA experience preferred.
- 1-3 years NP/PA experience preferred.
- Excellent critical thinking and communication skills are required.
- Certification with specialty area expected within 3 years.
**Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 for fulltime (40 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
