THE POSITION

If you are passionate about promoting road safety and have strong organizational and attention to detail skills, then we have an opportunity for you. The Bureau of Patrol, Commercial Vehicle Safety Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team and train in the technical work of inspecting motor vehicle carriers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your role as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer Trainee is crucial in ensuring the safety and compliance of motor carrier companies. Through this training, you will gain the necessary skills to conduct technical inspections on motor carrier vehicles and operators, ensuring they comply with state and federal safety regulations. With your expertise, you will contribute to improving the overall safety of commercial motor vehicles and promoting a more efficient transportation system. By obtaining the necessary certifications, you will become an integral part of our team and help to maintain the highest standards of safety in the industry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours: Rotating shifts
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of mechanical experience, law enforcement-related experience, or post secondary school education; and a high school diploma or equivalency; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education that includes a high school diploma or equivalency.

Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C motor vehicle operator's license.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
  • This job title has been identified as performing critical duties. Prior to placement in this job title, the selected candidate regardless of their current job, must submit a report of medications for screening by the State Police Medical Officer.
