THE POSITION

The Indiana County Children and Youth Services is eager to welcome a County Social Services Aide 1 to our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be providing a variety of services and support to our residents. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position will focus on public contact work in a County Children and Youth Services Agency. The Social Services Aide 1 assists and receives training from professional social services personnel in providing services to children, youth, and families. Work involves scheduling, transporting, and escorting clients to medical, dental, and other appointments. Duties include providing transportation to foster homes, court hearings, as well as for recreational purposes. You will be responsible for providing basic information regarding services and contacting clients who fail to keep appointments. You will have the opportunity to assist clients and families with everyday activities of living, home maintenance, and care. This includes distributing and delivering equipment, clothing, and other belongings to clients.

Other duties to include:

  • Providing supervision of children during office visits and in crisis situations in the home
  • Maintaining order of waiting and visiting rooms
  • Preparing reports
  • Performing routine clerical duties as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Position requires availability to work outside regular hours.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
