Adjunct Instructor - Physics (Summer 2025)

Dunwoody College of Technology is seeking an adjunct math instructor for the Math and Sciences Department.Instructors will be responsible for delivering and maintaining curriculum, advising students, taking accurate and timely attendance, and staying in direct communication with faculty and Dean of Arts and Sciences. Courses pay at a rate of $1,017 per credit

MAJOR OBJECTIVE

This position is responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement in an environment in which students can accomplish the learning objectives of the course of instruction. Results in students able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, ethics, and use of proper tools to meet industry and professional business standards.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

• Facilitates learning activities so that students learn the principles, theory, skills, and work ethic necessary to become proficient for entry level positions.
• Creates a positive learning environment.
• Monitors, assesses and advises learners on technical and academic progress and performance.
• Uses current academic and industry practices in assigned courses of instruction.
• Develops and upgrades lesson material, training aids and maintains equipment within assigned course of instruction.
• Assists in the recruitment, advising, and placement of learners.
• Other duties as assigned.

Course Name: Physics 2 with Lab

Course Description:

An introductory calculus-based course in electromagnetic fields and their applications. Topics include: Coulomb's and Gauss' Law, electric fields and potentials, electrical and magnetic properties of matter, Ampere's and Faraday's laws, elementary DC and AC circuits, Maxwell's equations, and electromagnetic waves.

Course Name: Physics 1 with Lab

Course Description:

Introduction to mechanics using differential calculus as a foundation. Topics include kinematics and dynamics of linear motion, static equilibrium, the conservation of energy and momentum, mechanics of solids and fluids, and thermodynamics. The laboratory portion incorporates experimentation, instrumentation, and graphical tools to verify calculations in motion, mechanics and thermodynamics.

• Masters degree in PhysicsOR
• Master's degree in a field that includes at least 18 credits worth of upper level physicscourses
• 1+ years post-secondary teaching experience
