About the Job:
The Benefits Analyst, under the supervision of the Manager, Health and Welfare Plans, is responsible for analyzing, administering, and supporting employee benefits programs, including health insurance, disability plans, wellness initiatives, and other company-sponsored benefits. This role ensures compliance with regulations, assists employees with benefits inquiries, and collaborates with vendors to optimize benefit offerings. This role must remain knowledgeable on all Vulcan benefits programs in order to answer employee questions and conduct employee benefits meetings as needed.

What You'll Do:



  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, AND HIPAA.
  • Coordinate employee disability cases, communicating both verbally and in writing with employees regarding disability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing guidance on plan options and policies.
  • Assist in developing and distributing benefits-related communications, including open enrollment materials, FAQs, and presentations.
  • Support and coordinate open enrollment processes, including developing and maintaining timetables, employee education, and distribution of open enrollment materials.
  • Work closely with benefits providers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and enhance plan offerings.
  • Prepare benefits invoices as well as benefits billing reconciliation.
  • Review and approve applications for changes in insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Serve as back-up for other Benefits Analysts.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role.

Technology Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems preferred. PeopleSoft experience preferred but not required.

Analytical Skills. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have superior verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with peers as needed. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Must be able to maintain confidential information.

Time Management Skills. Must have the ability to effectively organize priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Functional Knowledge. Must have knowledge and understanding of relevant state and federal regulations required as well as company policies and benefit plans.
