Manage all aspects of accreditation of our Jefferson Einstein Clinical Pastoral Education Program with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). Supervise Contractor Chaplains and CPE Chaplains. Create monthly on-call schedule. Recruit, screen, interview, select, orient, teach, supervise and evaluate CPE students. Establish continuing education offerings for contractor and staff chaplains and hospital personnel.

Job Description

  • Recruit, screen, interview, select, orient, teach, supervise and evaluate CPE Residents year-long, three unit residency program offering Level 1B, 2A, and 2B CPE. Fulfill administrative functions related to the CPE program.
  • Maintain the standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE) to maintain program accreditation with APCE. Continually update CPE program curriculum and materials to meet changing accreditation requirements. Maintain all records required by ACPE for program accreditation. Manage preparation for accreditation reviews, remote, and on-site.
  • Teach and facilitate the CPE residents' spiritual care to patients, families, staff and volunteers, including residents' assessment of the spiritual/religious/emotional needs of individuals and development of care plans for addressing those needs either directly or indirectly.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor of Staff Chaplains to assign chaplaincy coverage locations and cooperative, collaborative work between Resident and Staff Chaplains.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to Spiritual Care Services, as pertinent to the Clinical Pastoral Education programs.
  • As needed, support the Staff Chaplains and Clinical Pastoral Education Students in the department's provision of spiritual care (assessment, interventions, and care planning) to patients, families, staff, and volunteers.

  • Collaborate with Supervisor of Staff Chaplains for continuing education for staff chaplains & contractor chaplains.
  • Provides or coordinates orientation for all direct reports.
  • Assists the Director of Patient Experience in the strategic development of Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Maintain ACPE Educator and Chaplaincy Board Certifications. Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues in the field and stay current with developments in the profession.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Department Director.

QULIFICATIONS:

  • ACPE Certification as an ACPE Certified Educator.
  • Minimum of Master's Degree in related field.
  • Certified Chaplain with APC or cognate group preferred.
  • Experience developing, supervising and managing an accredited CPE program preferred. Experience working with a diverse student group and a diverse patient population. Experience working as part of a patient's care team.
  • Knowledge of major faith groups, pastoral theology, dynamics of loss and grief, and of crisis theory and intervention is necessary.
  • Experience and comfort with use of technology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
