Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of seven stations.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The primary purpose of this position is to establish relationships with individual donors and to cultivate, solicit, and steward them for major annual fund and special project contributions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in fundraising, experience soliciting gifts of $25,000 or more, and exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Mastery of the basic principles and techniques of successful fundraising as they pertain to the identification, cultivation, closure, and stewardship of individual donor prospects.8-10 years fundraising experience with an established history of soliciting gifts of $50,000+Deep Familiarity, dedication and appreciation for public broadcasting. Experience in Public Broadcasting preferred. The skill to motivate and engender the confidence of co-workers and volunteers. A strong drive to be successful and the ability to take initiative on individual tasks as well as to help identify and assist team members in resolving any donor issues that arise.
