JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

WPSU is looking for an organized, tech-savvy and curious Penn State graduate assistant to support our local radio programming starting in Fall 2025.

As a WPSU graduate assistant, you will:

  • Help produce our Poetry Moment program by working with the show host and WPSU staff to schedule, edit audio, manage paperwork and post stories to our web platform.
  • Post news stories from our reporting partners to the WPSU web platform.
  • Help with research, recordings and audio production work.
  • Help post media to our podcast platform.
  • Develop content for social media.
  • Edit existing audio and video into air-ready pieces.
  • Have the opportunity to contribute to our local radio news programming through news/event reporting or interviews with local newsmakers, authors, artists, and other interesting people.

The successful applicant will be an energetic self-starter who is a strong writer and editor, has a clear speaking voice, and is good with both people and technology. It's helpful if you're familiar with the NPR style of news reporting and have audio editing experience, but we're willing to train the right candidate.

Time Commitment: 20 hours/week, flexible schedule. Position is for the full academic year, both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Renewal for additional years is possible.

Compensation: Full tuition waiver and a Grade 13 Penn State GA half-time stipend.
