Sr. Java Developer (on-site) Job Summary We are looking for a motivated senior Java Backend engineer with solid hands-on experience in Java, with a passion for software modernization. The ideal candidate will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and will work closely with product managers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Primary Location: Austin, TX (on site) **Cognizant will only consider applicants for this position who are legally authorized to work in the United States** Role and Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain high-quality software solutions using AWS, SQL, Spring Boot, Java, JavaScript, and MySQL. * Ability to work with distributed and Agile teams * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement new features and enhancements * Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and bugs * Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. * Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. * Implement best practices for software development, including version control, testing, and continuous integration * Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain competitive and innovative. * Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including design documents, user guides, and release notes * Participate in agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of projects * Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of applications in production environments * Monitor and analyze application performance, providing recommendations for improvements and optimizations * Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the development process * Excellent communication * Problem solving * Self-starter Qualifications: * Core Java knowledge is a must (Java 8+) * Java hands on solid exp. * Should have strong experience in Springboot & Spring Frameworks and JUnit * Hands on experience in Java, multi-threading, no-sql/SQL, Kafka, Shell Scripting, REST API, building distributed components. * Possess a strong background in AWS, SQL, Spring Boot, Java, JavaScript, and MySQL * Demonstrate expertise in the Hi-Tech domain, with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and opportunities * Experience in development of Java server applications in a Unix environment * Experience with software build tools such as Maven, Nexus, Gradle * Solid knowledge of web technologies such as Java, J2EE (EJBs, servlets,JSP,Struts) Application Servers, Portal Applications and Standards and XML technologies. * Experience in coding, designing and building RESTful API's * Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases. (Good to have) * Experience of AWS (Good to Have) * Knowledge of performance and profiling testing highly desired (jProbe, jMeter, YourKit) - Good to have * Experience using GitHub Salary and Other Compensation: Applications will be accepted until April 24th, 2025.
