Job Title: Clinical House Supervisor - Nursing Administration

Part Time (2 x 12)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the house supervisor clinical manager, the clinical house supervisor (CHS) serves as an operational and administrative resource to hospital staff, providers, and patients/families. As a registered nurse (RN) the CHS supports holistic care of the patient through honoring patients' mind, body and spirit while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual. The CHS supports nursing excellence through role modeling professionalism, communication, and collaboration among nursing staff and across disciplines.

Summary of Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Assures nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards, evidence-based practice, current research and nursing philosophy.
  • Actively participates in departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and creativity in handling of issues.
  • Serves as clinical and educational resource for staff.
  • Functions as administrative resource for staff, providers and other customers in collaboration with the administrator on call.
  • Serves in an administrative support role for patient care and non-patient care departments after hours and on weekends.
  • Assures appropriate documentation and situational control during code and emergency situations according to approved protocols.
  • Provides cross-coverage for infection control nurse. Acts as an infection prevention resource to staff and providers in collaboration with the infection prevention nurse.
  • Assures the provision of compassionate post-mortem care and notification to organ donor network as appropriate.
  • Identifies risk management concerns and communicates with leadership and risk management for follow-up.
  • Communicates staff performance issues to unit directors and handles immediately as indicated.
  • Functions as a resource for information systems and in clinical situations.
  • Delegates patient care activities to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Performs effective hand off communication to support continuity of care.

Requirements:

  • Current, active Kentucky RN license
  • BSN Required
  • 3 years' acute care experience with one-year critical care experience required
  • Completion and maintenance of BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, EMTALA training and other designated unit specific certification and training requirements
  • Completion of LEAD Program as soon as possible based on dates LEAD Program offered
  • Completion of the BHR Charge Nurse Program
