Shop Specialist

This position pays 28.90 per hour!

As the Shop Specialist, here's the work you'll do:

* Supports the setting up and operating one or a combination of machines such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, shapers, etc., to make or repair parts and assemblies.

* Works with Machine shop employees and other crafts to repair and maintain all shop equipment. May be required to oil, change oils and coolant; makes minor adjustments; changes belts, saw blades, etc.; (and as experience justifies, makes more complicated repairs and adjustments); operates forklift, lifting hoists, or other equipment necessary in maintaining shop equipment.

* Works with welder in heating metal and forming into desired shape. Forges and welds metals; sharpens hand and machine tools; constructs and repairs parts; assembles and completes units by fabrication and/or duplicating worn or damaged parts. May learn to use all welding equipment.

* Works with Sheet Metal Workers in laying out job, making templates, forms and patterns as required. Works with carbon and stainless steel. Cuts, forms rivets, assembles and welds (gas and heli-arc) the above materials.

* Polishes tooling, piece marks tooling, and completes paperwork for toolroom, engineering, etc..

* When an employee is working on a job, he or she may be assigned to perform those duties of another classification which he or she can perform, except that the time spent in such activity will not exceed fifty percent (50%) of any workweek. At no time shall an employee be assigned duties which he or she has neither the knowledge nor skill to accomplish or which would compromise his or her personal safety or the safety of others.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

* Strong mechanical aptitude.

* Proficient in use of mechanics' hand tools.

* Knowledge of machine shop / tool equipment is preferred.
