The Role

The R&D Continuous Improvement team requires an experienced Senior Engineer to play a critical role in driving both product enhancements and process improvements within our Digestive Health portfolio and manufacturing operations. This position will focus on identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This candidate must possess strong technical leadership skills, with deep understanding and working experience in design controls, PDP, requirements writing and management, and identifying customer unmet needs. This candidate is expected to strategize, formalize, and lead the execution of technical plans for both product and process improvements. The candidate will establish and maintain a relationship with our manufacturing sites and support plant personnel in the implementations of new or upgraded manufacturing processes, as well as lead technical aspects of new product commercialization. Job Roles and Responsibilities




  • Identify and analyze product/process inefficiencies and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and project timelines.
  • Present technical and project updates to senior leadership in a clear and effective manner.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the planning and implementation of projects to improve product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop protocols, test methods, and verification and validation strategies for all relevant product and/or process improvements.
  • Mentor junior staff on continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% at times.



Qualifications

Required



  • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree preferred with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience of taking concepts from prototype to product launch
  • Experience in writing and managing technical requirements and specifications and translating requirements to verification and validation strategies, testing, and execution
  • Working knowledge of design controls (FDA 21 CFR 820.30) and medical device quality management systems (ISO 13485)
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred



  • Experience with Biodesign process
  • Experience in material science
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement team setting
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black Belt
