OVERVIEW

Merrick, a nationally known multi-office and multi-discipline engineering & architectural firm is looking for a Senior Electrical Designer to join our growing electrical facilities team! This position will be located in our Albuquerque or Los Alamos, NM offices.

Qualified candidates will have a desire for personal and professional growth, a well-defined understanding of design and construction document processes, and an adaptability for short term and long-term projects in an environment that requires a blend of creativity and high technical skills. An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing.

Typical hourly pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Senior Electrical Designer at Merrick, you will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects. The Senior Designer will:

  • Design of electrical systems for facilities for Government and private clients.
  • Provide design support of facility power distribution (<=600V), site power distribution (<=15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
  • Provide design support for calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Provide construction documents from hand sketches, verbal instructions, and field notes.
  • Possess extensive knowledge on electrical regulatory codes.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Write and edit specifications.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, working on multiple projects simultaneously.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design
  • Experience with Revit and the ability to generate Revit content and provide Revit troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, and power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Experience generating floor plans, layouts, wiring diagrams, one-lines, rack elevations, etc.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word
  • Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required
  • Experience with Department of Defense clients is highly desired
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
