Department Overview
The Coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Engineering is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.
Department Summary - The System Protection Compliance team is a central point of support to System Protection, System Automation, & Substation Test for asset management and compliance, driving best practices and consistency.
Position Summary
The System Protection compliance group works on asset management, compliance, and maintenance processes and procedures. This includes maintaining asset data, test records, risk assessment, analysis, compliance reporting, and program metrics. Develops and implements PG&E's internal compliance framework for various regulatory standards. Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts and Standard Owners to develop processes and controls to ensure the department is accountable and compliant with regulatory requirements.

The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
* Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $122,000.00
* Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $158,000.00
* Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $194,000.00
* Minimum Base Salary (California) $116,000.00
* Mid Base Salary (California) $150,000.00
* Maximum Base Salary (California) $184,000.00
Responsibilities
* Collect evidence from various monitoring and asset inventory systems.
* Process and analyze evidence to verify compliance.
* Posting evidence and analysis results demonstrating compliance.
* Updating PG&E's Electric Corrective Action Program (ECAP) and other reporting tools with the status based on results of evidence review.
* Responds to vulnerability assessments; conduct reviews and close out assigned items.
* Lead regulatory gap analysis activities ensuring evidence and signoffs take place on time.
* Validate assets and inventory as new equipment and systems are added or removed.
* Review upcoming regulatory standards and advise for upcoming requirements.
* Participates in reviewing and updating processes and procedures related to compliance.
* Identify and document control gaps in processes or projects.
* Provides guidance on the development of tools and processes that help the department efficiently and effectively manage compliance requirements.
* Utilizes multiple record repositories to store, track, update, and enhance as needed.
* Travel approximately 25-50% with occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
Minimum:
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology, or commensurate experience in system protection or test department.
* 8 years of protection related experience in the utility industry including 3 years working in compliance or areas related to compliance.
Desired:
* Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and laws such as FERC, NERC, CAISO.
* Competency in consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.
* Ability to analyze data from several sources and identify, articulate, and present the business impact.
* Ability to understand, interpret and communicate standards, policies, and guidelines.
* Competency in knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products as needed to perform at the job level.
* Skill in leading and facilitating discussions and meetings.
* Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
* Understanding of database structures and incorporate design enhancements.
* Knowledge of NERC CIP and O&P standards.
* Experience in an electric utility substation environment with eight or more years of experience in calibrating, installing, and in-service testing of relay systems.
* Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW), Electrical Technician certification, Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) associate certificate, certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma certified, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Engineering in Training (EIT) certificate.
* Advanced knowledge of System Protection processes, procedures, and work activities.
* An understanding of the roles and relationship between, System Protection, Test Department, and Compliance groups.
* System Operator certification by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
