Department Overview

The Wildfire Risk Organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment. The organization will develop objectives to 1) prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; 2) meet all commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan; 3) continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and 4) develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations.

  • This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned location based on business need. The position headquarters can beRocklin, Concord or Fresno.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Position Summary

Ensures the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned ADMS SCADA systems. Provides application solutions, development, advice, and assistance to clients to design, develop, integrate, and maintain ADMS SCADA systems. Conducts analysis, programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions, and implementing fixes associated with ADMS SCADA systems and applications. Conducts systems modeling, migration, and administration. Prepares and reviews design documentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • ADMS SCADA Consultancy:
    • Provide long term solution options for future application upgrades and design. Provides leadership and input into future ADMS SCADA architecture.
  • ADMS SCADA Client/Vendor Support:
    • Provide support and analysis for ADMS SCADA applications and standards to clients and vendors. Provide business analysis to vendors on new ADMS SCADA equipment. Provide gas, electric and hydro operational analysis to vendors to help develop their product for PG&E use.
  • ADMS SCADA Protocol and Device Testing Projects:
    • Tests new devices, protocols, and equipment required for ADMS SCADA; works with engineering design on new technology to implement within existing ADMS SCADA systems. Provides operational and technical assistance input and testing for all ADMS SCADA applicable pre-production devices as needed. Provides vendor business analysis of equipment as tested to be implemented into the PG&E system.
  • ADMS SCADA Support:
    • Provides support, guidance, and consultation to System Automation, System Reliability and IT personnel in the development and implementation of ADMS SCADA, Systems and automation applications. Review requirements and development of ADMS SCADA software and hardware. Works with business clients to align technical recommendations with business objectives by understanding the strategies and objectives of supported business units.
  • General
    • The ability to display and apply expert technical aptitude with the management, installation, and utilization of Schneider Electric products or other control systems.
    • Trains ADMS SCADA team and others on new technologies, protocols and devices. Recognized as an expert in ADMS SCADA and mentors others for knowledge transfer and possible future expert.
    • Assist with ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (NERC). Use of best practices and benchmarks to achieve efficient and effective services.
    • Uses industry recognized approaches, methodologies and techniques specific to competency area to deliver quality real-time control and monitoring solutions.
    • 3rd tier support analyzing, diagnosing and resolving problems on all aspects of ADMS SCADA.
  • Independently plans work to meet assigned general objectives; progress is reviewed upon completion and solutions may provide an opportunity for creative/non-standard approaches.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience or technical training
  • 8 years of ADMS SCADA field experience in installing testing and maintaining ADMS SCADA systems and or advanced control systems; relevant experience

Desired:

  • High-level programming skills (C++, etc.)
  • System Dispatch Certification
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Technical Journeyman Certificate
  • Experience with Schneider Electric System products or other control systems.
