Business Systems Configuration Analyst - Hybrid

The position of Business Systems Configuration Analyst is a salaried exempt, individual contributor role responsible for configuring, managing, and supporting business systems, ensuring their optimal performance to meet organizational needs. This role involves analyzing business requirements, translating them into system configurations, and ensuring alignment with business goals. This position reports to the Director, Systems and Process Improvement and is located onsite at the Mansfield Power & Gas office in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities:

Systems Configuration:

  • Configure and maintain business systems (e.g., ERP, ETRM, other similar systems) according to business requirements.
  • Implement system changes, updates, and customizations while ensuring system stability and integrity.
  • Review change requests for consistency and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Analyze and recommend configurations to meet changing regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an understanding of the technical and functional architecture of assigned systems.
  • Identify situations where configuration cannot fully meet requirements and work with management to address associated business processes.

Business Analysis:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business processes and requirements.
  • Analyze system data and workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Create & maintain reports and provide analytical insights into identified risks and opportunities.
  • Provides ad-hoc analytical support to senior leadership in the form of analysis, reports, and presentations on demand

Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Provide support for system issues by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical problems.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure effective communication.
  • Assist with the development and execution of test plans to ensure system changes meet specifications and business requirements.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and ensure system configurations are performing as expected.
  • Oversee the quality assurance processes for integrations, ensuring that data accuracy, security, and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with new system features, software upgrades, and industry best practices.
  • Recommend system enhancements to improve business operations and user experience.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with product owners to provide innovative ideas and insights in the design of new solutions.
  • Work closely with senior management to align integration strategies with business goals, ensuring that technology solutions contribute to organizational success.
  • Provide input on the development of integration standards, best practices, and policies.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 3 + years of experience in business systems analysis or configuration, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Experience working with either ERP or ETRM systems or other similar business management software.
  • Preference given to applicants with working knowledge of Natural Gas retail & wholesale industry segments.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and how they translate into system configurations.
  • Proficiency with system configuration tools and business analytics software.
  • Knowledge of database management, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Qualifications & Characteristics:

  • Must be willing to work unusual/extended hours as necessary during seasonal peaks which may include partial weekend coverage. Individual must have ability to handle heavy workloads in a potentially stressful environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Must be decisive, detail oriented, have strong problem solving/analytical skills and must constantly strive for process improvement.
  • Must be comfortable working with multiple computer programs and be willing to work on and learn new technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and present ideas and data in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines and interact effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment:

  • After completion of the introductory period of employment, this position is eligible for the Company's 3x2 hybrid work schedule which consists of a 40-hour work week with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, business conditions permitting.
  • Able to work remotely during emergency or critical operating conditions.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to view computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
  • Close visual acuity needed to review financial statements and for discerning fine print.
  • As directed, this position will have planned, overnight and weekend travel to Company headquarters several times a year along with travel to pipeline & customer meetings and/or energy industry conferences.
