Stanley Consultants is seeking a Project Accountant for our Muscatine, IA office.

Position Summary:



  • Perform various accounting functions of moderate complexity and ensures that procedures and practices are being followed in accordance with company policy, accounting principles, and contractual obligations.
  • Work very closely with Project Managers to prepare an accurate and timely invoice and monitor project to make sure it's tracking well.
  • Work with moderate supervision.


What You Will Be Doing:



  • Prepare accurate monthly invoices for Project Manager review. Incorporate review comments and submit final invoices to the client in a timely manner following all contract invoicing requirements.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of contracts, subcontracts, and invoicing.
  • Responsible for reviewing subconsultant invoices, obtaining Project Manager approval, submitting to Accounts Payable, and associating the invoice with the Client invoice.
  • Understanding of key contract terms related to billing and subconsultant agreements for assigned projects.
  • Assist Project Manager in transferring hours and charges, as needed, within company policies.
  • Participate in project review meetings ensuring Accounting-related changes are addressed and resolved.
  • Work with Project Managers on timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Research, communicate, follow up, and resolve open issues with the Project Managers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper documentation related to invoicing is saved and tracked within the Standard Procedures.
  • Work to resolve any project issues by utilizing weekly reporting.
  • Maintain system-project records for any updates related to billing requirements (e.g. rate changes).


Required Qualifications:



  • AA Degree or equivalent experience
  • 0-5 years of experience in billing or relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Deltek VantagePoint experience a plus


Key Performance Indicators:



  • Requires some judgement and initiative. Issues outside of standard procedures referred to manager
  • Work completed accurately within all established deadlines
  • Maintain billing documentation consistent with Company standard practices
