Your Role:

You will be a member of Global Markets Legal at a bulge bracket investment bank and broker-dealer. Looking for an attorney with experience providing advice regarding fixed income trading activities to address a broad range of legal and regulatory questions and issues that arise in connection with Goldman's U.S. FICC (Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities) ETF Trading business. Legal coverage and advice will focus on the sales, trading, and hedging of a broad range of FICC ETFs and their product underliers (e.g., corporate bonds, high yield bonds, bank loans, treasury securities, municipal bonds and CLOs).

In this role, you will be on the frontlines serving as a trusted advisor to the business and control-side colleagues and will have exposure to all aspects of a dynamic and growing business. You will also play an important role in helping the firm navigate the regulatory landscape and market structure.

Your Responsibilities:



  • Provide legal and regulatory advice and transactional support to the FICC ETF and Portfolio Trading business, including market making, risk positioning and hedging activity, and all aspects of ETF creation/redemption processes and operational activities
  • Advise key stakeholders in the FICC ETF and Portfolio Trading businesses as well as control-side colleagues regarding regulatory requirements, market structure, counterparty disputes, regulatory advocacy, cross-border issues, regulatory inquiries and responses, and development of policies, procedures and best practices for this growing business
  • Primary advisor to the senior trading heads of FICC ETF and Portfolio Trading, including through the real time provision of trading advice
  • Serve as legal advisor in connection with development of new business activities, services and products and partner with key stakeholders to help understand and manage the potential legal and regulatory risks
  • Collaborate with other control-side teams, including compliance, risk, controllers, operations and engineering to address relevant legal and regulatory requirements impacting the FICC ETF and Portfolio Trading business, and developing policies and best practices
  • Assist other legal and compliance teams in managing regulatory matters and various internal and external audits and examinations


Qualifications and Attributes:



  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility; thoughtful and detail-oriented
  • Self-starter; capable of building and leveraging an internal network of resources and support
  • Strong legal and business judgment, communication, writing and analytical skills
  • 5+ years of experience working with or at a financial institution, including relevant experience at a law firm, advising on fixed income sales and trading issues (exposure to ETF trading and related activities (e.g., creation and redemption of ETFs) is a plus)
  • Knowledge of trading, hedging and execution considerations across the spectrum of fixed income products, including an understanding of market practice and regulations


J.D. or comparable law degree from a competitive law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state
