Job Purpose:

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Management System (QMS) that governs the MDC facility and its supporting processes. The Quality Manager leads and champions process improvement initiatives within the QMS, facilitates team efforts to establish and monitor customer and supplier relationships, supports strategic planning and deployment of corporate initiatives, and develops measurement systems to evaluate QMS risk.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Build and maintain the ISO 9001:2015 QMS program in Murfreesboro, TN
  • Coordinates and manages the quality assurance personnel
  • Coordinates and directs the Lean Six Sigma, Poke-Yoke and quality programs
  • Lead the quality planning function as it pertains to quality measurements, control, analysis and improvements regarding distribution and manufacturing processes
  • Analyze and communicate quality issues; monitor the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions
  • Improves the overall quality and accuracy of the orders leaving the facility
  • Mitigate customer variance reports (CVRs), and buckslips to meet established goals and targets
  • Review, analyze, resolve, disposition, and develop strategies for CVR mitigation
  • Facilitates and leads team effort to establish and monitor customer and/or supplier relations
  • Supports strategic planning and deployment of Corporate initiatives
  • Helps develop measurement systems
  • Determines and evaluates QMS risk for MDC
  • Develops quality training for site employees
  • Oversees third party customer Audits
  • Guides and Evaluates work and performance of subordinates - organize, prioritize, schedule, and review
  • Other duties, as assigned by Plant Manager


Qualifications

Knowledge:



  • 4 year degree preferably in Engineering, Math or Physics
  • 8+ years of experience in the area of Quality and Quality Systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of this experience must be in a decision-making position.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or above
  • Quality Certification(s) from ASQ (American Society for Quality) preferred
  • Must be proficient in problem solving techniques and methodologies (8D, DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard


Skills:



  • Mathematical - High Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Written & Verbal Communication - High Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Customer Service - Intermediate: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer with personal services. This includes customer needs assessment
  • PowerPoint - Basic: This level of skills is required to create a simple presentation in PowerPoint, run it and print it.
  • Word - Intermediate: This level of skills is necessary in order to use and create a variety of templates, complex tables, merges, manage table data, sort and filter merges, and also perform basic work with existingMacros. A person at this level of skills is able to customize toolbars, import and insert graphs, embed Excel data and reports.
  • Excel -Advanced: This level of skills is required to use advanced techniques for analyzing and manipulating data in Excel. A person with this level of skills is able to automate some operations, manage Macro commands, and create Excel applications.
  • Access - This level of skill is required to use complex query techniques, create efficient formals and reports, and create Macros to automate these forms.
  • Planning/Organizing - Intermediate: Allocate appropriate amount of time for completing own and others' work.
  • Analytical/Research - High: Applying appropriate criteria to strategies and action plans.
  • Experience in working with defined quality costs characteristics.
  • Decision Making - Very High: Decisions have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a major department or multiple departments. Job contributes to decisions on the overall strategy and direction of the organization.
  • Reasoning Ability - Very High: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


Abilities:
