DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health, McGrath Infusion Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to work in the Infusion Stat Laboratory. This is an outpatient stat laboratory operating 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm. The MLT will work Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts. Under general supervision, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs waived and moderate complexity testing in chemistry and hematology; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. The MLT also provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. This role also serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff, adheres to all safety policies, and performs other related duties, as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) issued by the state of California.

  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Adept troubleshooting skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with Ortho Vitros.

  • Experience with Sysmex XN-L series.

  • Process improvement advocate.

  • Ability to multitask and be a team player.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $85,587 - $106,384 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $40.99 - $50.95

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
