DESCRIPTION The Clinical Social Worker II/III provides essential psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families, helping them navigate the emotional, financial, and practical challenges of a cancer diagnosis. This position will support patients undergoing radiation oncology treatments at the Hillcrest Cancer Clinic. Under the general supervision of Cancer Services leadership, and in addition to performing the full range of operational level duties, the Clinical Social Worker II/III is responsible for administering social work services, including comprehensive psychosocial assessment and ongoing psychosocial support surrounding crisis intervention, adjustment to illness, psychoeducation, anticipatory guidance, advance care planning, grief support, mental health, substance use, mandated reporting, and linkages to community resources. This position also collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, assisting with care coordination and advocating for patients throughout their treatment. The Clinical Social Worker II/III participates in related department functions, such as program and community education. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment, supporting patients through some of the most challenging times in their lives. This Clinical Social Worker II/III may also be asked to cover other disease teams as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned. Please note that this position is a part-time appointment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A Master's degree from an accredited school of social work. At least two (2) years of post-MSW experience. To be considered for the Clinical Social Worker III, the candidate must have at least three (3) years of post-MSW experience and be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the state of California. Bilingual in both English and Spanish. Epic experience. Prior experience in oncology, palliative, hospice, and/or medical social work, with an understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of patients in these settings. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Utilization of research to improve clinical practice and implement evidence-based psychosocial support programs, services, and interventions. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Depending on the experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at a Clinical Social Worker II or Clinical Social Worker III level. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $85,232 - $112,293 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $40.82 - $53.78 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
