Bird Field Study Temp/Casual Etterson/Branstrator Position

Job Summary:
We are seeking to hire an individual to assist with the collection of data for a field study of the effects of environmental contaminants on birds. The research centers on per- and polyfluoralkyl substances (PFAS) effects on reproduction and the disruption of physiological systems important for reproductive success.

Responsibilities may involve:

• Monitor avian nest boxes in the Duluth region (50-75% of time)
• Collect environmental & invertebrate samples (20-25% of time)
• Process samples at the US EPA Great Lakes Toxicology and Ecology lab, Duluth, MN (10-20% of time)
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to work outside in difficult conditions (mosquitos, rough terrain, mud & water)
• Ability to work well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior field experience with birds
• Background knowledge in ornithology and/or ecology

Pay Rate: $15.25 per hour
