This Position reports to:

R&D Manager, Instrumentation Products

In this role, you will contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. You will, under limited direction, per-form a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a specific engineering discipline plus an understanding of related disciplines to cost effectively achieve objectives. Assignments typically require the use of advanced and innovative techniques. Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Solving complex industrial problems, and reviewing current technologies to choose effective applications, equipment and methods for new products or software.

  • Lead for taking architectural decisions on Embedded Products with evaluating technical and business trade offs

  • Manage the whole SW development life cycle (SDLC) of embedded soft-ware: Requirement's engineering, design, implementation, test including final system testing and maintenance

  • Performing a variety of complex technology/engineering assignments, typically utilizing advanced, innovative techniques

Qualifications:

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer science engineering or related field

  • Minimum 8 years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, Critical Thinking and Time Management

  • State Machine design experience

  • Analog to Digital Signal Conversion experience

  • Embedded Programming experience

  • C Programming experience. Other languages are a plus.

  • RTOS experience

  • General knowledge about Communication Protocols

Preferred Skills

  • Embedded hardware development experience with microcontroller design and development

  • Functional Safety Programming Requirements

  • Design for Testing (DFT)

  • DSP Algorithms

  • Data Analysis and Algorithm Design with MATLAB or Python

  • Automated Testing using Tessy or similar tools

  • Familiarity with HART, Fieldbus, MODBUS, Ethernet communications

  • Familiarity with Guided wave radar and laser level products a plus

  • Experience working closely with multi-functional team (production, production test, customer support, supply chain)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to pro-duce clear and concise technical documentation

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
