We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Business Development to lead our business development function. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape this department, playing a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and expansion. This role will be responsible for identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, exploring new business opportunities, and supporting the commercialization of innovative products. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in biotech or med tech, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex markets to achieve short and long-term corporate objectives. This is a strategic role with significant internal and external visibility, requires an entrepreneurial and tenacious personality, and involves a high level of collaboration with senior leadership. This role will report to the VP Finance and IR. Candidates based on the east-coast based will be considered, preferably in the New England area. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the formulation and execution of comprehensive business development framework and strategies. Develop and implement long-term strategic plans focused on increasing revenue, expanding market share, and establishing high-value partnerships within the biotech and med tech sectors. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with Novocure's overall strategic objectives and innovation roadmap.
- Partnership Development: Oversee and manage all external industry relationships. Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, potentially including but not limited to pharmaceutical and/or medical device companies. Regularly update key stakeholders and/or the management team on the status of key partnerships, negotiations, and market developments to ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis, competitive assessments, and industry trend analysis to inform strategic decision-making. Identify emerging technologies, potential partnerships, and new business areas while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and product roadmap.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as R&D, regulatory, marketing, and finance to align business development strategies with operational capabilities and market needs.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
- A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, Engineering, or a related field is required. An MBA or advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience. (Some pharmaceutical, biotech or medical technology experience required. Experience in global finance or business preferred)
- Deep understanding of the biotech and med tech landscape, including regulatory requirements, clinical trials, product commercialization, and market access strategies.
- Strong ability to leverage established relationships or build new relationships with key stakeholders, including executives in the biotech, med tech, and healthcare sectors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues in presentation, written and oral form.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to drive results cross-functionally and maintain a collaborative, positive work environment.
- Ability to assess market trends, identify business opportunities, and analyze financial data to inform strategic decisions. Aptitude for understanding and communicating scientific information and clinical data
- Willingness to travel as required for meetings, conferences, and partnership negotiations.
