INVISTA Houston Chemical Plant is seeking entrepreneurial, innovative leaders to join the team as a Process Technician.

Our Team

Our Houston Chemical Plant is a major producer of propylene with operations in the vicinity of the Houston Ship Channel.

The company owns and operates the first propane dehydrogenation facility in the US, and its plant is among the largest of its kind in the world. The facility employs about 100 people.

What You Will Do

  • Supporting plant operations by performing outside operational duties
  • Performing duties as described per the standardized round sheet and routine duties as defined in Unit Training Guides
  • Performing operational duties as required to optimize unit performance including timely process adjustments, sampling, process monitoring, etc. as needed by the Shift Supervisor
  • Understanding and executing the Maintenance Workflow Process including work request entry, equipment preparation, work permitting, and assisting the Production team in the development of the Unit Work Schedule
  • Identifying, addressing, and capturing opportunities for reliability improvement, cost, and waste reduction as per appropriate business processes

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 2+ years of previous industry experience OR an Associate's degree in either Process Technology or Instrumentation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Required to serve on the Emergency Response Team for Fire and Rescue (ERT)
  • Required to work a 12-hour rotating shift (Du Pont schedule)
  • This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous Board Operator experience
  • Electrical / Instrumentation experience in a refining or petrochemical facility
  • Maintenance mechanic experiencein a refining or petrochemical facility
  • Served as a member of the emergency response team
  • Experience utilizing a variety of technology

Physical Requirement

  • Work a rotating 12-hour shift. The work schedule is subject to change with notification, depending on business needs. Additionally, must be available to work scheduled (Planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed), to meet business needs.
  • Climb heights exceeding 300 feet
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 30 lbs. frequently
  • Work in confined spaces with supplied breathing air and congested areas (self-contained breathing Apparatus)
  • Work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions
  • Work in areas that may require the use of a fully encapsulated acid suit
  • Participate in Fire and Rescue Emergency Response teams

This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.
