Buyer/Planner

Job Summary
Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material. Performs a wide variety of complex planning activities required to attain production objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
- Reviews requisitions, confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Places orders with vendors, researches and acquires new sources for purchasing regular items, organizing vendor lists and files.
- Writes or types purchase order and sends a copy to supplier and department originating request.
- Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
- Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards contract to bidders or places orders with suppliers or mail order firms.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and takes corrective action.
- Performs related duties of which the above may be representative.
- Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
- Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Prepares production reports for daily production meetings.
- Prepares and determines material requirements to support manufacturing schedules and customer requirements.
- Works with specified customers to insure scheduled deliveries and to communicate problems as they arise.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The duties and responsibilities are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The position also requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Additionally, it requires the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Also, ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form is necessary. Education/Previous Experience Requirements
This position requires an associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Pay Compensation Range for this Exempt: $80,000-$105,000.00
