As the Senior Advisor, Aluminium Marketing, you will assist the Product Marketing Strategy team as they manage long-term product strategy and provide the voice of the customers and industry for investments throughout the global smelter system. This translate into looking ahead to find where the market is evolving (ex: recycling, low-carbon) and defining priorities for R&D development and investments needed, providing guidance to sales, while helping to create partnerships for the whole Aluminium group.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Aluminium Marketing, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Understand and educate about the key commercial value drivers for the Aluminium and Commercial product groups.
  • Understand the markets for the identified products: Competitors, Pricing, Supply, Demand, Perspective, Potential Disruptors.
  • Develop market insights to create the Commercial GtM strategy including definition of product and service portfolios, key market and customer segments, customer value propositions, pricing policy, price setting and brand management activities.
  • Drive ongoing input into the Aluminium Commercial GtM Strategy and the Marketing plans.
  • Be the voice of the industry and customers back to the strategic framework for ongoing review of the GtM Strategy, the operations and the R&D group.
  • Build adequate communication material to help convey the storyline and narrative of the Commercial organization to all stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in improvement projects, such as the integration of new systems or development of new marketing programs such as START.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • College/University Education: Bachelor's in commerce, Finance, Business Administration or Engineering.
  • >5 years' experience
  • A Master or MBA will be an asset
  • Consulting skills, branding and/or ESG experience will be an asset
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Team player with the ability to work across cultures, countries and different customers
  • Understanding of the aluminium industry and key drivers of profitability
  • Ability to travel 5-20% of the time
