POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Afognak Native Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Specialist (helpdesk) in Anchorage, AK. The IT Support Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining computer equipment and systems across all retail store locations. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on IT assets that support daily company operations.



  • Provide technical support to store users via phone, email, remote access, or on-site visits.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues for desktops, laptops, POS systems, printers, registers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Monitor network connectivity and escalate major outages to the appropriate teams.
  • Travel to store locations for hands-on support, installations, after-hours or emergency response when needed.
  • Install and configure operating systems, software, and user accounts in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of support requests and resolutions using a ticketing system.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations and inventories.
  • Performs due diligence and testing of new technology or functionalities to support retail operations as needed.
  • Establish and maintain inventory of IT equipment and misc. assets for retail operations, such as tablets, cradle points, etc.
  • Support rollouts of system upgrades, patches, or new software deployments across store locations.
  • Perform installation, routine maintenance and preventive checks on IT equipment in stores.
  • Support and maintain the desktop computing environment at stores.
  • Assist with PC-based applications and office automation tools.
  • Support and administer assigned client-server-based applications.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Operations leadership, IT Supervisor and Project Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers for warranty support, repairs, or escalated technical issues.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, vendors and consultants on projects and issues.
  • Support IT Manager in additional retail related tasks as needed.


Payrate:$28.18 to $33.77 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Computer Networking, MIS, Computer Science, IT Management, or related field OR 3 years of comparable work experience.
  • A Valid Driver License is required and a clean driving record for regular travel to the retail locations in Anchorage, Wasila Valley and upon occasion, Fairbanks.
  • Reliable personal vehicle for retail store site visits.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, PC repair, and support.
  • Experience with computer systems, peripherals, mobile technology, and client/server environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and mobile operating systems.
  • Experience with imaging software and deployment techniques.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, occasional weekends, and carry an on-call company phone as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot using reference materials and logical problem-solving.
  • Adaptability to evolving technology.
  • Strong critical thinking and adherence to policy and procedure


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Retail-specific IT support experience preferred.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA) preferred.
