We have an opportunity for a 2nd Shift Lead (Metal Shop) in Lawrenceville, Ga. The 2nd Shift will be responsible for leading the team to excel in daily performance and achieve high levels of safety, quality, and efficiency. Teammates with lead status set a positive example for their teams by always following safety standards, maintaining an excellent culture and setting goals for continuous improvement for their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Willing to work overtime when needed to meet delivery commitments and support the team
  • Follows standard work where available; helps to document standard work for their team and function, and monitor adherence by their team to documented standard work
  • Responds immediately to team members issues; first line of defense for teammates when issues impede their ability to perform their work safely or efficiently
  • Work with support functions and their supervisor to ensure rapid response to issues
  • Update the tier boards and lead daily tier meetings
  • Train and support team members from onboarding through daily operations
  • Identify any roadblocks and work with their supervisor on plans to resolve them.
  • Encourage and lead a culture of continuous improvement and assist in elimination of defects through systematic problem solving.
  • Be available to interface with team members.
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualities:

  • Possess good leadership qualities
  • Knowledge and experience in their functional job description
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure ecosystem involving mixed model flow in a high mix low volume environment
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials
  • Ability to estimate assembly timings
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiar with use of computers with working knowledge of MS office suites
  • General understanding of ERP, preferably with Microsoft based D365 ERP system
  • Required to work well within a team environment and be a team player


Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in your functional job description; prior leadership experience is a plus
