What you'll do:

• Physical Labor: Lifting, moving, and carrying materials, operating hand tools, and operating equipment like forklifts and skid steers.
• Site Preparation: Cleaning and preparing the facility, including removing debris and hazards.
• Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials, organizing stock, and transporting items.
• Assisting Skilled Workers: Assisting skilled tradespeople like electricians, mechanics, and painters on various projects throughout employment.
• Following Instructions: Taking direction from supervisors and following project plans and instructions.
• Safety Compliance: Following all safety regulations and procedures, and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the facility for yourself and others at all times in accordance with OSHA and Vulcan standards
• Tool and Equipment Operation: Operating and maintaining tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
• General Tasks: Performing a wide range of tasks as needed, including lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
  

Skills You'll Need:

• The ability to problem-solve and work independently is preferred. Safety Knowledge. Must display knowledge and awareness of safety hazards associated with construction sites, HMA plants, and Testing Laboratories.
• Math Skills. Must possess good math skills and demonstrate the ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations.
• Technology Skills. Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
• Communication Skills. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and can interact with individuals at various levels within the organization and outside agencies (i.e., Central services personnel and Engineering personnel)
• Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Experience. Previous welding or construction experience preferred.
