We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director - Direct Express Product Management to join our Treasury Services Domestic Payments Product team. This role is located in Washington DC. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- As the Director of Product Management, you will be responsible for the strategy, adoption and execution of priorities across our consumer disbursements offering for the Direct Express program, which enables benefit disbursement to millions of consumers and is the largest government pre-paid card program in the country.
- You will lead a cross functional team and collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, sales, control functions, compliance, risk, legal and operations to deliver products that solve customer problems and create value for our business.
- You will be responsible for setting the product vision, strategy, and goals, and communicating them effectively to internal and external senior executive stakeholders.
- You will own the long-term vision and strategy in growing adoption of our product offering within the federal, state and local government.
- You would be leading the entire program and playing a major role in standing up a robust internal and external governance process to manage Direct Express.
As the Director of Product Management you will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for consumer disbursements, aligned with the company's mission and objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of product managers, and foster a culture of customer-centricity, innovation, and collaboration.
- Manage a complex set of requirements and program execution by BNY and its partners.
- Lead the team in defining and prioritizing product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, and work with engineering and design teams to deliver high-quality products in an agile environment.
- Conduct market research, customer interviews, user testing, data analysis, and competitive benchmarking to validate product assumptions and identify new opportunities.
- Measure and report on the performance, adoption, and impact of the products, and use data and feedback to inform product decisions and improvements.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships, and communicate product updates, roadblocks, and achievements to senior executive leadership internally and externally.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations to ensure successful launch and adoption.
- Manage product governance, risk and all relevant vendors used to deliver these services.
- Manage a number of workstreams needed to deliver the solution, manage transition of existing account holders and ongoing management of the program.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Advanced/graduate degree preferred.
- 12+ years of product management experience, preferably in the Treasury services payments, government program disbursements, etc.
- Proven track record of leading and launching successful products or complex programs that solve customer problems and drive business growth.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, and ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders across the organization.
- Deep understanding of the prepaid card disbursements market, customer needs, pain points, and opportunities.
- Experience with agile product development methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Experience with commercialization, go-to-market, and profit and loss management of products, and ability to optimize product performance, pricing, and profitability.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,000 and $191,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
