Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Responsible for an expert level of technical support to the University community including requirements gathering, design, installation, programming, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintaining collaboration and video surveillance technology. Generates documentation on how to utilize the systems, provides written technical resolutions in a central knowledge base, and leads in the development of technical standards for learning technologies. In addition to support of daily operations, this position includes vendor and customer interactions in the evaluation, technical design and implementation of projects that advance the state of digital media technology at the University. This is a leadership role with limited supervision of junior DMTS Engineer.
Essential Functions

  • Explores, identifies, evaluates, enables, and promotes existing and emerging digital media, surveillance, instructional technologies and their application.
  • Design, install, program, configure and maintain new or existing technology systems and services for a diverse customer base within the University community.
  • Serves as a senior level technical support to the digital media engineers.
  • Performs expert level technical analysis for projects for integration of digital media technologies.
  • Leads, defines, documents, and communicates to customers digital media technology standards.
  • Provides high level of customer service and satisfaction to the University community in resolving complex issues and preventing future digital media related technical issues.
  • Seeks new and maintains existing positive relationships with multiple digital media vendors.
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members, stakeholders in a clear and timely fashion.
  • Serves as project technical lead through accurate and predictable:

    • Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones
    • Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
    • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirement documentation, technical training sessions, and presentations.
    • Conducts project post mortems and creates recommendation reports in order to identify key project elements and improve future projects.



  • Responsible for performing and reviewing site surveys, designing customer solutions based on requirements, estimating, and producing documentation suitable for management presentations and system installation, and control system programming scopes.
  • Produces and drives continual improvement of advanced audiovisual design documents including: control flow diagrams, audio and video components, wiring schematics, and renderings.
  • Complex system design, integration, maintenance and programming to the latest control processors, servers, and peripheral devices.
  • Reads and analyzes architectural, mechanical, electrical (MEP) and acoustic plans.
  • Prepares proposals and designs for audiovisual system integrations and installations.
  • Analyze architectural. Delivers projects on time, and on budget.
  • Provides leadership and training to DMTS Engineer 1 and 2.
  • Logs support requests and issues reported into a central database and maintain their updates.
  • Generates reports and analyzes trends in issues and leads the design and implementation of permanent resolution to issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 2 years of post high school continuing education required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of overall audiovisual commercial integration experience as hands on A/V installer, design engineer, systems engineer and/or programmer.
  • Five (5) years of medium to large scale control system programming, audio DSP programming, and integration.
  • Five (5) years of medium to large scale AV project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelors Degree in IT Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Certified Cisco CCNP-Collaboration
  • Certified Crestron Master Programmer
  • Certified Biamp Audio DSP programmer
  • Certified Infocomm CTS-Design or CTS-Integration
  • Certified Institute of Noise Control Engineer (INCE)
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures. Constant sitting and computer usage, frequent walking and standing required. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:

Hiring Range $41.64 - $57.26
