Job Summary and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior OSP Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of outside plant (OSP) infrastructure for fiber optic and telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in OSP engineering, including aerial, underground, and buried plant systems, and will play a key role in ensuring high-quality and cost-effective network deployments.

  • Lead and oversee the design and implementation of OSP projects, including fiber optic networks, conduit, manholes, handholes, and pole lines.
  • Prepare engineering plans, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct field surveys, site walks, desktop surveys, and audits to evaluate existing infrastructure and determine optimal routing.
  • Collaborate with permitting authorities, utility companies, and internal stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and coordinate construction efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards (e.g., RUS, NEC), and company policies.
  • Manage and mentor junior OSP engineers and support staff, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis using tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, IQGEO, MicroStation, and other fiber design software.
  • Review contractor work, engineering plans, and construction redlines for quality assurance and adherence to design specifications.
  • Maintain project schedules, monitor budgets, and report on progress and issues to management.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in OSP network design and deployment.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of OSP engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience working with rural broadband initiatives, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), or 5G backhaul projects.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies including directional boring, trenching, and aerial installation.
  • Familiarity with local and national telecommunications codes and standards.
  • Ability to take initiative & work independently with little to no direction

Pay Range in the United States: $66K - $99K based upon geography, skills, and experience. May also be eligible for performance incentive opportunity based on company and individual goals and performance.
