Position Overview

As a Benefits Specialist, you will work one-on-one with individuals referred through the Division of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). You'll play a key role in guiding clients through eligibility evaluations, benefit applications, and administrative appeals for local, state, and federal programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Educate and advise clients on available public benefit programs
• Assist with applications and determine eligibility
• Support clients through appeals processes under attorney direction
• Deliver community outreach and public education
• Collaborate with attorneys, county staff, and partner organizations
• Maintain detailed, confidential documentation
• Uphold ethical and professional standards at all times

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in human services (or related field) OR active RN license
• At least 1 year of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities (internships and volunteer work count!)
• Knowledge of public benefits programs is a plus
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Cultural competence and discretion in sensitive situations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
