Job Summary |
The Food Service Supervisor will direct and manage the food service program that fulfills federal, local and state regulations, provides nutritious, high-quality meals to all customer groups, and cooperates with the staff in special meals and catering needs. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
- High school diploma or equivalent; - Two (2) years school district food service experience; - One (1) year successful experience in school food service management; - Food handler certification; - Demonstrated knowledge of food services rules and regulations to meet federal, state and local guidelines; - Ability to operate and maintain institutional equipment; - Knowledge in budget development and financial management; - Knowledge of personnel management skills and leadership; and - Expertise in USDA and TDA regulations and rules regarding school meals. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in institutional or school food service operations.
- Experience with USDA child nutrition programs, including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and associated nutritional and reporting requirements.
- Experience supervising and training food service staff.
- Certification in ServSafe or equivalent food safety and sanitation training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide children with well-balanced and nutritious meals.
- Manage the preparation and delivery of quality meals using standardized recipes.
- Develop recipes and menus that meet the nutritional guidelines of the National School Lunch Program by age/grade groups.
- Maintain complete records for program accountability, including deliveries, cash receipts, meals served, and food production records.
- Ensure that staff comply with high safety and sanitation standards.
- Ensure the food service program meets or exceeds all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Ensure adherence to meal service accountability requirements within university guidelines.
- Prepare and submit requisitions for food and supplies based on menus and delivery schedules.
- Supervise cafeteria staff, including interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
