Technician, Quality

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Responsible for performing lab work as assigned on a daily basis.

Participate in team meetings to help outline work schedules and priorities.

Ensure that all computer generated reports are maintained and monitored on a consistent basis.

Perform routine lab testing with accurate and timely recording of test results into the SAP Quality Management module and utilizing the notification system in SAP as a reference for information regarding testing.

Possess knowledge and ability to accurately follow lab procedures, including troubleshooting of problems both individually and as a team.

Understand and follow procedures of the department for the proper calibration and use of the department's equipment.

Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling and storage of food products; and report any known or observed violations to management.

Perform the following duties as assigned;

Perform investigations when instructed for complaints in the Global Customer Complaint System for DUSM.

Participate in the Quality Management Systems.

Coordinate the retain sample storage system for site.

Perform environmental sampling procedures (i.e. equipment, bacterial checks, Listeria, Salmonella checks and air quality checks, heavy metals and pesticides).

Monitor and coordinate the Customer Certificate of Analysis system and ensure COA is being sent to the customer.

Follow and enforce laboratory safety procedures.

Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine.

Responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate stock of lab supplies and chemicals in conjunction with the Quality Control Supervisor.

Assist Quality Control Supervisor by being responsive to any problems relative to Quality Control laboratory functions and quickly and efficiently alleviating difficulties as necessary.

Responsible for initiating and notifications in SAP, calling meetings when needed, and following through on disposition (updating notifications). Incumbent may participate as Quality Control representative in review meetings.

Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including ISO 9001 and Food Safety with an understanding of Danisco Quality Policy and procedures.

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must have at least 2 years related work experience or possess an associate degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Biology and must be knowledgeable about the analyses and tests performed in the Quality Control department. The ability to work as an active team member as well as independently, strong math and good verbal and written communication skills are required. The incumbent must be able to perform analyses as outlined in the procedures for the Quality Control department - must be able to stand for long periods of time. Store, organize and move retain samples in 50lb boxes.

This position reports directly to the Quality Control Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. A typical problem-solving activity includes accurately assessing a laboratory discrepancy and responding to resolve this issue through team collaboration in a timely manner. Incumbent must be able to work overtime as needed.

Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties and responsibilities of this position at any time.

This position operates in a laboratory environment 90 % of the time. Must adhere to plant safety policies and wear personnel protective equipment when required.
