Your Opportunity

Lead the Boar Stud in the daily activities and functions of the Boar stud to produce the highest quality semen services to the sow units.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assure the farm is operating at maximum capacity by maintaining efficient animal flows and achieving throughput targets that meet quality expectations.
  • Maintain trict adherence to all company policies, including Animal Care, EMS, IPS and BMS.
  • Responsible for accurate production data.
  • Responsible for proper animal condition and health
  • Complete all paperwork required from a boar stud (including feed orders, HR requirements, and production reports)
  • Responsible for maintaining Herd Development animal identification systems and boar records.
  • Basic Maintenance and upkeep of facilities
  • Comply with all MSI components - to include but not limited to: EMS, IPS and Animal Well Being Policies and Procedures
  • Deliver semen to designated locations

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 2 years' direct experience in handling livestock and managing animal welfare required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Certification in department, required.
  • Ability to do hard physical labor.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Willingness to shower daily in and out of facility.
  • Ability to follow instructions and deal with standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work an average 48 hour week, which can vary frequently.
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
  • Must be on call to work in emergency situations to include but not limited to, power outages or personnel shortages.
  • Must be able to tolerate and willing to learn and perform the following tasks: euthanasia, castration, vaccinations, piglet processing, ear tagging for identification, taking blood samples and other procedures normal to animal husbandry.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides leadership and guidance to personnel within their department with Manager oversight.
