As a Business Manager, you will play a pivotal role in steering the profitability of a specific category within our business. Be it bacon, ham, fresh pork, or another of our diverse categories, you'll collaborate cross-functionally with our sales team and plant operations to ensure we deliver the finest products to our customers and consumers. In this position, you will develop and execute comprehensive plans and programs for a distinct product, brand, or significant market segment. You'll oversee the profitability and financial performance of a specific product category, taking full ownership of the category's P&L. Additionally, you will drive the creation and enhancement of new and existing products, aligning with our company's business and marketing goals. Financial Management: You will be responsible for achieving company price and volume budgets while ensuring targeted growth. This includes managing pricing to drive category growth and meet profitability targets. You will oversee the total P&L for a major product group, including sales revenue, costs, margins, and expenses. Additionally, you will develop promotional pricing strategies and negotiate, review, and approve pricing and trade agreements. Sales and Communication: You will serve as the primary contact for the Sales team, where you will communicate product specifications, inventory levels, pricing, costing, and lead time requirements. You will be responsible for developing strong communication with other functional areas and departments. Product Management: You will participate in and evaluate market research, promotions, public relations, and advertising initiatives. You will attend product reviews to compare the execution of written specifications and gain insight into what drives variances and yield to the standards. You will lead key projects, including new product development, plant operation improvements, and strategic initiatives to drive efficiency and growth. Expertise: You will be considered the category expert over a specific segment of the business. Leadership: You will drive a positive employee experience by providing leadership through mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge sharing to support employee development and growth.
WHAT WE'RE SEEKING: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or related field and 5+ years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. 2+ years experience acting as a lead by providing training, guidance or mentoring to less experienced staff or managing processes and projects. Must understand the dynamics of the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry. Must have a solid understanding of customer focused and fact-based selling techniques, which may include Circana, Neilsen and Perishable Group data. Travel expectation less than 20% Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
