Position Purpose |
Under the general direction of the Head of Collection Management and Preservation, the Library Collections Operations Manager will provide leadership, planning, and oversight over the circulating physical collections as well as assist with holistic planning for collection locations across library spaces. This includes managing routine shelving operations and withdrawal workflows, training and supervising student employees, assisting with Dartmouth Libraries' environmental monitoring program, processing newly acquired materials, and coordinating collections care efforts in concert with departmental colleagues at the Library Collections Storage Facility (
LCSF). This role is responsible for supervising and managing a small team of full-time employees.
This is a fully onsite position. |

* 2 plus years of increasingly responsible staff management experience.
* 2 plus years of library operations experience; familiarity with library software systems.
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated communication and organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, problem solve, and complete projects.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments.
* Experience with spreadsheet software (Excel or Airtable).
* Ability to move or lift up to 50 lbs. regularly during the workday.
* The ability to lift materials overhead.
* Comfortable working at heights up to 30 feet and in temperatures ranging from 50 - 60 degrees Fahrenheit. |
Preferred Qualifications |
* Experience working in an academic library environment.
* Experience with project planning and management.
* Familiarity with commercial binding workflows and vendors.
* Knowledge of preservation standards for physical library materials.
* Experience operating a variety of warehouse machinery, including manual and powered lifts. |
