Role

This position is a mix of supervisory and technical contribution, with up to 12 direct reports (engineers & technologists). This position is responsible for some individual contribution and project support and supervises a staff that provides dedicated electrical support to the manufacturing divisions within Technology Division at Tennessee Operations and Eastman's global sites. The nature of this support encompasses general troubleshooting, expense work via the MOC system, and small capital project execution. The role of the Discipline Lead is to provide focus to align the group with the assigned manufacturing division. Discipline Leads also provide strategic input and stewardship for a variety of Department and Division improvement initiatives. Lastly, Discipline Leads play an integral role in the engineering talent pipeline by actively recruiting, hiring, and developing Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil talent.

Responsibilities:



  • Customer Interface:

    • Provide central point for customer (manufacturing divisions) interface with the group.
    • Be aware of the customer's business conditions and adjust resources, approaches and work processes strategically.
    • Use that knowledge to dynamically position the group to meet the customer's ongoing needs.Also provide interface with maintenance and engineering contractor organizations.




  • Supervisory:

    • Provide ongoing coaching and development for all employees.
    • Support onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of new hires with documented feedback.
    • Promptly address personnel issues.
    • Become familiar with and leverage each group member's strengths.
      Provide feedback to supervision around group/personnel performance.




  • Individual Technical Contribution:

    • Provide strategic technical support to projects where increased knowledge or expertise is warranted.




  • Managerial:

    • Manage group workload.
    • Provide department, division, and company information to group members and ensure linkage between the group and higher organizations.
    • Assist in personnel decisions and hiring strategies.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate's degree in Electrical or Electronic Technology
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering and/or leadership experience.
  • Candidate must be adept at organization / prioritization and have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate should have experience in basic managerial tasks, such as leading teams, boundary management, problem solving, and well demonstrated collaborative and networking skills.
  • Candidate must have a desire to proactively integrate into business situations and motivate reporting individuals to exceed current business expectations.
