Support the Program Manager for Community Outreach in the Office for Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SKCCC) at Jefferson. Strategically grow and expand relationships with community organizations within specific areas of the SKCCC catchment area. Represent the SKCCC at community events and networking groups, providing health education and linkage to care related to cancer prevention and screening. Track and maintain a record of community engagement efforts, to monitor progress and evaluate impact. Identify resources and materials at appropriate literacy levels for community-facing events, ensuring that resources and materials are also in languages spoken in diverse communities. Support the Office of COE in enterprise-wide outreach initiatives, including catchment area assessments, infrastructure building, and the Community Advisory Board. Regularly attend meetings related to COE at the SKCCC.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
  • The Community Outreach Coordinator will conduct targeted outreach and facilitate cancer resources for underserved populations, specifically surrounding the areas of cancer screening and prevention and ensuring inclusion and outreach to diverse and underserved/under-represented communities. The Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as an advocate and liaison between SKCCC and community agencies and the populations served.
  • Participate and coordinate community facing events, including health fairs, cancer education sessions, etc. Communicates with SKCCC clinicians and providers to support cancer prevention and education. May include identifying and preparing team members to participate in community events. Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Administrative duties: data management, event coordination and office work for SKCCC to engage the community and build partnerships that benefit the organization
  • Public relations- creating strategic relationships and engagement with communities. Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, schools, etc. and assists with community activities that support the goals of the organization. Represent the organization in a positive manner.
  • Create brochures, social media posts, email campaigns, educational events, etc. to promote cancer awareness among communities in the SKCC catchment area.
  • Participates in county, city and other coalitions to promote SKCCC at Jefferson Health and identify opportunities for collaboration. Links community to cancer care and other services at the Institution's health system, especially in Bucks County, Montgomery County and Delaware County.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Proficiencies):

  • Proficient in MS office ( word, power point, publisher, excel)
  • Detail oriented to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Strong presentation, writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient with report presentations' ability to work remote as needed.
  • Preferred bilingual or multilingual.

Required Experience, Education, Certification(s), License(s):

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, nursing or community health education
  • Must have transportation to travel within the SKCCC catchment area
  • Some evening and weekend work required

  • 2 + years of public health and outreach experience, and community engagement, engagement strategy planning using data and analytics; friendly, enthusiastic, team player, strong abilities to move teams forward, knowledge of social media platforms and appropriate use
