Overview

The ODI Associate will provide entry level support to the organization with relevant education and experience for useful contributions to the department. Provide administrative support to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • The Associate will function as a member of a collaborative team and will contribute to the mission of the EEO Office to create a welcoming and inclusive work culture and maintain a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.
  • Provide administrative support including, but not limited to, office management, preparing correspondences and reports, and inputting relevant data into information management systems and independent tracking systems.
  • Assist, with guidance, in screening and interviewing individuals and/or groups to identify risks and cultural factors that can lead to unsafe/unhealthy workplace environments related to claims of discrimination and/or harassment.
  • Rotate through field organizations with Manager and learn to resolve issues and concerns through alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation services; advise on matters affecting the employment of special emphasis groups.
  • Help foster supportive experiences to employees through effective and compassionate listening, provide general assistance and communication facilitation, including necessary referrals and connections; and evaluation and referral of significant EEO issues and/or potential violations to investigation.
  • Act as liaison, contacting individuals and setting up appointments and follow up meetings with employees.
  • Confidentially respond to inquiries and document workplace issues, correspondences regarding workplace issues.
  • Make recommendations for methods of intervention and improving workplace situations.
  • Represent the Office with highest form of respect and dignity for self and employees.
  • Refer to EEO investigation matters that allege employment discrimination or harassment.
  • Refer complaints not appropriate for ODI review to other investigative groups and/or mediation as needed.
  • Commitment to Safety, Operational Excellence and the Customer Experience, and adherence to the Companys Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), EEO, discipline, and security.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree attained with a minimum of one years of experience. Requirements are based on cumulative full-time work experience or equivalent experience with an internship or coop program from any employer. Candidates who have completed at least six months of Con Ed college co-op or summer co-op internship program meet the experience requirements.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Experience dealing with people with diverse backgrounds, experiences & challenges is required. Required
  • Experience promoting a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace is required. Required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Required
  • One year relevant work experience (including co-op, internship or research) is required. Required
  • Capable of working independently or with a team is required. Required
  • Experience in case management, advocacy and support services is preferred. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective interpersonal skills and
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills and
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills and
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Physical Demands
  • Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
  • Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
