Position Summary:

TheSki & Ride School Training Supervisorplays a pivotal role in elevating the instructional quality and professional development of the Ski & Ride School team. This leadership position is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs for ski and snowboard instructors, with a focus on safety, people skills, teaching skills and ski/ride skills.

Working closely with the management team, the Training Supervisor ensures that all training initiatives align with PSIA/AASI standards and support the school's mission of providing world-class instruction. This role oversees a team of 10 to 15 trainers and is directly responsible for the planning and execution of new hire training, weekly clinics, certification preparation training, and ongoing staff development.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned instructor with a passion for mentorship and professional growth, a deep understanding of learning principles, and the ability to inspire excellence across all levels of the instructional team. This position requires strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to adapt training strategies to meet the evolving needs of the school and its staff.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of 10 to 15 trainers, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality training across all disciplines. Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to maintain instructional excellence.
  • Facilitate engaging and effective training sessions for ski and snowboard instructors, with a focus on safety, people skills, teaching skills and ski/ride skills.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive training for new instructors, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver lessons that meet Ski & Ride School standards from day one.
  • Organize and lead weekly clinics and continuing education opportunities for all instructional staff, tailored to various skill levels and learning goals.
  • Organized specialized, program-specific training through collaboration with program coordinators
  • Actively mentor trainers and instructors to enhance their teaching effectiveness, technical skills, and guest interaction. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design, refine, and implement training curricula that align with PSIA/AASI standards and reflect the evolving needs of the school.
  • Lead PSIA/AASI certification clinics and workshops, supporting instructors in their pursuit of professional credentials and advancement.
  • Conduct on-hill observations of training sessions and lessons, providing detailed, constructive feedback to trainers and instructors to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on instructional methodology, lesson planning, and training standards. Provide guidance to staff and leadership on best practices and technical development.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications - PSIA/AASI Level 3 Certification required, Education Staff member or equivalent preferred.

Technical - Strong understanding of advanced teaching techniques, PSIA/AASI methodologies, and proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams). Experience with Flaik, Siriusware or RTP preferred.

Physical Capabilities -
  • Employee must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions at an expert level.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, in ski/ride equipment.
  • Must be capable of frequently or constantly balancing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, handling and twisting.
  • May require out of the ordinary skiing or snowboarding movements in order to assist children on the mountain.
  • Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 75bs.

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum time in related position - 10+ years teaching in a ski & ride school, preferably with training experience.

Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used:
  • Current and in working condition ski and/or snowboard equipment. Ski bindings required to be tested by our repair shop.
  • Helmets are required and can be provided at no cost.
