Job Description

Tokyo Electron America Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) - a global corporate leader in the semiconductor equipment industry, is currently seeking a Technologist/Engineer.

This position offers an opportunity for a creative individual with a genuine sense of curiosity to bring ideas to life. The candidate will be directly involved in the development of new components, technologies and methodologies that are at the forefront of TEL's future product offerings. The candidate will participate in designing, prototyping and testing hardware components, instrumentation and software algorithms as a member of a small, highly skilled multidisciplinary team. The candidate should have a fundamental understanding of materials, electronics, chemistry, physics, and be capable of operating complex, scientific equipment in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with mechanical and electrical engineers in the design of prototype components and assemblies for TEL's semiconductor process chambers. Occasional use of CAD/CAE tools to edit or modify models.
  • Procure parts, assemble, calibrate and evaluate prototype hardware.
  • Propose and execute design of experiments (DOE); collect and analyze data.
  • Use basic programming skills to automate data logging and post processing and/or facilitate the integration of independent systems, controllers, sensors, etc.
  • Use simulation data to troubleshoot and/or optimize hardware.
  • Author necessary system level documentation, generate technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions and create presentations for internal review.
  • Acquire through training or continuing education the required skills as assigned responsibilities and duties evolve.
  • Possible domestic and/or international travel to Japan or Europe.

Qualifications:

  • Completed (or will complete by July 2025) a BS/MS/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or other Science/Engineering field.
  • Demonstrated hands-on hardware experience through internships, graduate degree and/or previous employment. Post graduate professional work experience is not required but will be given appropriate consideration.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

The following qualifications are highly desirable and will differentiate candidates favorably to the extent where previously demonstrated:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills; data analysis, programming abilities.
  • Proven self-directed quick learner with a strong work ethic. Successful completion of technical challenges, especially where the acquisition of new skills was essential.
  • Prioritizing, planning, and organizational skills. Resourceful use of time, respect for schedules and deadlines.
  • Able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Execute on assigned tasks in an independent, timely manner, not reliant on continuous supervision.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
